Day 1: Rototest presents advanced powertrain dynamometer technology
Rototest
Rototest is at this year’s expo exhibiting its expanding range of powertrain dynamometer technology, featuring models tailored for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and university applications.
Christian Engström, CEO of Rototest, shared the benefits of attending the expo: “It is a big fair in the heart of Europe and provides strong feedback with several leads from European OEMs and more.”
A highlight at the expo is the new Energy a62 4WD, designed for high dynamic braking tests, such as those required for autonomous emergency braking (AEB) systems. It can also test for various other ADAS functionalities such as ACC and LKA.
This model has a high transient torque and power capabilities, managing individual wheel torques up to 4,000Nm and system powers up to 1.2MW. For more high dynamic and demanding tests, Rototest says it can provide standard solution up to 5,000Nm (400kW). Additionally, the Energy a62 is prepared for integration with Rototest’s Natural Steering solution.
Rototest is also showcasing the Energy u14 4WD model for educational institutions. This version, based on the same technology as the larger models, is more accessible due to its streamlined options and functional modules, making it ideal for budget-conscious universities and educational establishments.
“Energy u14 4WD is a price-efficient solution and perfect for educational purpose where torque and power requirements are not that demanding. Combined with the integrated vehicle model, it is possible to conduct basically any tests. In less than 30 minutes of setup time – mounting of four dynamometers and parameter settings in the system – tests can be conducted,” Engström added.
“The system is also equipped with soft limits meaning that power, torque and/or speed can be limited to make sure the system is used properly by the user/student. Thanks to its modular architecture it is possible to split up the Energy u14 4WD into two u14 2WD systems to let more students [get involved] with the system.”
