Day 2: Sonplas exhibits its modular end-of-line (EOL) testing systems
Sonplas

At this year's Automotive Testing Expo in Stuttgart, Sonplas is highlighting its modular end-of-line (EOL) testing systems, which are designed for products in power electronics, including inverters, chargers and DC-DC converters.

According to Alexander Denk, team leader electrical design, “Automotive Testing Expo offers the perfect setting to present Sonplas’ technology and solutions in the field of power electronics testing and fuel testing”.

He continued, “Our modular EOL test benches for example ensure flexible and cost-efficient quality assurance of power electronics components. In the fluid sector, we supply test benches for functional and durability testing with real fuels for fuel-carrying components.”

These systems are designed for customized quality control, allowing for flexible adaptation to various product types via base machines and specifically selectable test adapters.

This enables efficient and cost-effective testing of product characteristics such as leaks and flashing of calibration data, operating systems and communication via interfaces like CAN or ethernet. Additionally, critical parameters such as current, power and efficiencies are measured, with rotational speed also being captured.

For testing power electronics components, Sonplas is displaying suitable solutions consisting of test adapters, systems and software. The modular design – consisting of individual test adapters that can be swapped depending on the product type – allows the test system to be adapted to different product types.

Denk explained that the hardware base basic unit and the test rack remain unaltered, which enables the customer to adjust flexibly to a wide variety of product types without having to purchase a completely new test stand for each individual product.

Sonplas also provides advanced solutions for component testing with a variety of fuels, including hydrogen, methanol, e-fuels, gasoline, diesel and other alternative fuels. Sonplas test benches are tailored to meet customer needs in functional and durability testing. Sonplas test benches are specially adapted to the required medium via suitable components (pumps, measuring devices, sensors, etc).

Werner Riederer, sales fuel technology, commented, “The challenges are the design of the test benches and the development of safety equipment for hazardous media.”

The company’s in-house fluid laboratory features a hydrogen test center and various other test benches designed to analyze the function and durability of components comprehensively.

“The Sonplas hydrogen test center tests balance-of-plant components for function and durability. Testing the components ensures the function and durability of the fuel cell,” Riederer added.

Completing the Sonplas portfolio is the IAV Cross Injection Analyzer family, which determines flow characteristics.

Visitors are invited to discover more about these solutions at Booth 1668, where experts are ready to discuss and demonstrate their technologies.
