HVAC and comfort manikins
Thermetrics LLC - Booth 13010

Thermetrics will bring two of its latest advanced manikin systems for evaluating the thermal comfort of automobile passenger cabins.

The first is an eight-zone ‘STAN’ Seat Test thermal manikin, patterned after the SAE J826 HPM-II body form to provide compatibility with existing seat positioning methods. It features eight active thermal heating zones with computer-controlled sweating skin and integrated backside cooling to simulate metabolic heat and perspiration levels.

The second is the HVAC manikin, which is an unheated 50th percentile body form with surface-mounted sensors to accurately measure the environmental conditions and in-use performance of automotive HVAC systems. The manikin’s integrated sensor matrix measures air temperature, air velocity, radiant heat flux and relative humidity.

Data generated by the HVAC manikin can be directly read as boundary conditions for virtual analysis using TAITherm software from ThermoAnalytics. TAITherm will match measurements from the manikin sensors to corresponding surface nodes on its virtual model.
