Temperature measurements in high-voltage environments
imc USA - Booth 4020

The new CANSAS-FBG-8T fiber-optic CAN measurement module from imc Test & Measurement uses specially developed fiber Bragg grating sensors (FBG) at eight optical inputs to measure temperatures in high-voltage environments and output the results via CAN.

imc says that the transmission will be completely free of any EMI- and ESD-related errors, signal artifacts and damage, with highly dynamic measurements, thanks to the fast response times of the sensors. In addition, the small size of the sensors – down to .5mm – allows for measurements inside the windings of electric motors without influencing the winding geometry and field properties. Thanks to the fast response of the sensors, dynamic temperature changes in the windings can be recorded under load, something that was not possible with PT100 or thermocouple sensors.
